Easy Installation Guide for Your Carbon Fiber Sport Spoiler
Installing your new Model Y Carbon Fiber Sport Spoiler is simple and can be done in a few steps:
1. Clean the trunk lid: Start by cleaning the entire trunk lid to remove any dirt, water stains, and particles. For best results, you may want to wash the entire trunk with a car wash soap to ensure a clean surface.
2. Align the spoiler: Carefully align the spoiler so that it is centered on the trunk lid. Make sure the distance from the tip of each end to the edge of the trunk is equal. The spoiler should feel perfectly positioned, almost like a click, when it’s centered correctly.
3. Peel the tape strip backing: Slightly peel the tape strip backing off of both ends of the spoiler. Leave about 2-3 inches of the tape strip covers dangling from each end to facilitate easier application.
4. Reposition and apply: Reposition the spoiler exactly where you want it, ensuring that the tape strip backing is still protruding. Once you’re satisfied with the placement, gradually peel off the tape backing while pressing the spoiler onto the trunk lid. Do not press down firmly until all the tape backing has been removed!
5. Finalize installation: Once the tape backing is completely off, press firmly and evenly along the entire length of the spoiler to ensure that the adhesive sticks tightly to the trunk lid.
Important Notes for Installation
To ensure the best adhesion, an adhesion promoter is highly recommended before installation. After applying the spoiler, do NOT expose it to water for at least 48 hours. Additionally, avoid driving your Tesla for 24-48 hours to allow the adhesive to set properly. For optimal results, use a heat gun to warm the double-sided 3M adhesive right before or after application. Remember, adhesiveness is weaker when the temperature is below 20°C.
